GINZA, TOKYO, JAPAN
BALLY, a high-end clothing shop recently opened up a very luxurious cafe on it’s 2nd floor. The cafe is located in Ginza (one of the more upscale areas of Tokyo) in possibly the best Tokyu plaza building I’ve seen so far. There are Tokyu plaza buildings located all over however, excluding the one in Harajuku, this one is by far is the most impressive I’ve seen. It’s a nice building, lined with gold and towering over the sky’s. The BALLY sign is also very hard to miss.
The BALLY CAFE, is a very elegant shop, offering drinks paired with impressive displays. The interior is very lavish with white fur, stylish couches and gold trim everywhere. I love the open communication concept it has going on. Their largest seating area is just one big table with couches on three sides for multiple guest to share. You can also sit at a private table as well.
THE GRUB
BALLY Cafe offers drinks such as coffees, fruit teas, and hot chocolate as well as a few desert options. We decided to get some berry tea, a raspberry white hot chocolate, a bitter hot chocolate and the macaroon tower. The berry tea is just perfect for spring or summer. Light yet delicious with such a beautiful color.
Their unique idea of stacking the macaroons was a brilliant way of displaying them instead of just relying on their vibrant colors, as most places do.
Both hot chocolates were delicious. However, I’m not much of a berry fan, so I enjoyed the bitter hot chocolate a bit more than the white raspberry. The hot coco’s presentation was absolutely beautiful, inventive and rustic yet elegant.
I love how they allow the customer to take control of their drink. You’re brought hot milk and a cup of shaved chocolate that you must poor and mix together yourself.
It’s really fun and impressive to watch the chocolate melt. The dessert presentation was also impressive.
The prices for drinks ranged from around 7.00$~10.00$, a bit pricey for some hot coco but, for an upscale atmosphere such as this, paired with the view, I’d say it’s well worth the price. Being so cute, I feel that this place is best suited for women and couples.
I couldn’t really imagine two men coming here for a drink, but if you’re into upscale cafes offering a more luxurious atmosphere, this is the place for you!
Be sure to look around Ginza while you’re there. It is THE place to go to shop for designer brands. Also, the Tokyu Plaza building offers many funky, strange designer items and shops you just gotta see.
