Where to stay in Positano

Where to stay in Positano, Italy? L’Uliveto B&B is a cozy family-run place offering outstanding hospitality, comfort and great views! To be honest, I was expecting your normal cold, distant business like hotel like any other however, it was anything but. After landing we received a message asking what time we would arrive and if we wanted public or private parking. I thought “none of your business, I’ll get there when I get there” low and behold they were asking because  it’s very confusing to navigate so, the owners were waiting… outside….in the cold…in the middle of the city where they were holding a public parking spot or us.

They helped us park and even carry all our luggage up all the stairs they made us feel very welcome. The owners explained everything and gave many useful tips and recommends for our stay. The next morning Nunzia prepared a lovely breakfast for us . Her homemade jam using fruits grown right on her property is just to die for! She even makes olive oil using her own olive tree.

Amazing jam

The property was very clean and relaxing. I especially liked the beautiful garden they were maintaining. I could easily spend weeks out on the kitchen and bedroom balcony. The bedroom had a mini-fridge with a welcome bottle of champagne inside. The room was cleaned very thoroughly everyday. Just the best service I’ve ever experienced with a hotel or inn.

The walk down from the hotel to the city is an absolute must at least once. It take around 30 mins but it took us about 45 due to the shocking beauty around every turn. I found myself taking a million photos, AND I got asthma! She advised us to take the bus back up but noooooo, we were too impatient and decided to walk. Unless you’re a professional athlete, don’t do it.

Took us around an hour and was honestly the hardest I’ve worked out all year. Very near the hotel you will find a small town center with parking, a large soccer field stores, restaurants, and many adorable local cats. I recommend grabbing a bottle of  Col Di Sasso for only 7.99€ from the local grocery store, cheap and good.

How much you say?

The price was very cheap due to the off season time of our booking. You will be instructed to put down a credit card for security reasons but the payment should be made upon arrival in cash (euros) For 5 nights November 17th-22nd we paid only 400€. I Used booking.com but they’re also listed on multiple sites. For more information on visiting during off season click here.

How to get there

It takes about 2 hours from Naples airport by car. This location is quite far up from the main area, as mentioned about a 30 mins walk. However, there is a bus which operates to and from the beach area which can drop you off pretty close to the B&B. For more information on how to get to there click here.

Recommended area

If cheap and friendly isn’t your thing and you stay at a different hotel I highly recommend staying near the beach area. L’Uliveto B&B is located about 40 minutes up hill from the main beach area. This place makes for a great view but a somewhat inconvenient journey for others. Although there is a bus, there is comfort in walking straight to the beach from your hotel. However if you do decide to stay lower near the beach, you’ll miss out on all those beautiful sky views. So, It all comes down to great views vs. convenience.
